Dr. Azmi Nasser, our esteemed Medical Director, brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to the fields of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as Pain Management. Dr. Nasser’s journey into medicine was inspired by a childhood fascination with biology, propelling him towards a fulfilling career in healthcare.

Originally aspiring to become a pediatrician, Dr. Nasser’s personal experience with orthopedic injuries redirected his focus towards the specialized realm of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R). This discipline’s holistic approach to neuromusculoskeletal care, coupled with its emphasis on hands-on treatment and procedural interventions, resonated deeply with Dr. Nasser’s professional aspirations. Consequently, he embarked on a path leading to interventional pain medicine, driven by a commitment to alleviate suffering, restore functionality, and enhance the quality of life for his patients.

Dr. Nasser’s academic journey commenced at UCSD, where he earned his undergraduate degree in 1999. Continuing his pursuit of medical knowledge, he graduated from the Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005. Subsequently, he completed an internship in Medicine and Surgery at Downey Regional Medical Center in 2006. Driven by his passion for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, he undertook residency training at Loyola University Medical Center, specializing in Musculoskeletal, Sports, and Pain Medicine, where he served as co-chief resident and honed his skills until 2009. Further enhancing his expertise, he pursued a fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine, culminating in 2010.

Dr. Nasser’s commitment to excellence is evident in his extensive clinical experience, having conducted over 20,000 regenerative medicine and minimally invasive procedures throughout his career. His dedication to advancing medical practice is exemplified by his proficiency in performing Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Discectomy and Rhizotomy Procedures. Notably, he spearheaded the development of the Regenerative Medicine Program at Arizona Pain Treatment Centers, underscoring his innovative approach to patient care.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Nasser finds fulfillment in family life, cherishing moments spent with his wife and two daughters. An avid explorer of the Arizonian Desert, he enjoys off-roading adventures with friends and embarking on hiking and camping trips with his family. Committed to personal wellness, he prioritizes early morning gym workouts with colleagues, complementing his surprising passion for martial arts, where he holds a second-degree black belt in Tang Soo Do and Hap Ki Do.
