Dr. James Adkins

Founder and CEO

Dr. James Adkins is a Kansas native who graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic University- Kansas City in 1992. Upon graduating he wasted no time in moving west to pursue his dream of establishing his first clinic. Not long after going into practice, he realized that spine pain patients required a team to recover better and faster, however, at that time there wasn’t any real collaboration between different spine and pain experts.

In the mid 90’s Dr. Adkins was a pioneer in establishing one of the first multi-disciplinary clinics in the country. Since 1997 he has directed a team of spine specialists that has included neurologists, interventional pain physicians, chiropractors, PTs, and spine surgeons.

Dr. Adkins is the founder of Arizona Pain Treatment Centers, Minimally Invasive Spine, Modern Ambulatory Surgery Center, McDowell Ambulatory Surgery Center and Escape Spine Surgery Concierge Program.

This background has provided a keen insight into the benefits that real teamwork between different spine and pain specialists can provide patients as well as fueled a passion to always be at the forefront of advancements and improvements in the industry.

In 2003 Dr. Adkins faced his own battle to recover after a serious disc herniation resulted in nerve compression and atrophy of the right lower extremity. He used treatments ranging from ART (Active Release technique) to B-Mac (Bone Marrow) and PRP injections to heal. This personal experience refined his understanding of the challenges patients live through.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Dr. Adkins is an avid Kitesurfer and Snowboarder. He loves to spend time exploring the world with his wife and three children. On his days off you are just as likely to bump into him at Phoenix Sky Harbor as you are at the local coffee shop.
