Dr. James Adkins, a Kansas native, graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic University in Kansas City in 1992. Soon after, he moved west to pursue his dream of establishing his own clinic, eager to make a difference in the field of spine care.

In the mid-90s, Dr. Adkins became a pioneer by establishing one of the first multi-disciplinary spine clinics in the country. Recognizing that spine pain patients needed a team-based approach to recover more effectively, he began collaborating with experts across different specialties. Since 1997, he has directed a dedicated team of spine specialists, including neurologists, interventional pain physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists, and spine surgeons.

Founder of Leading Spine Care Centers

Dr. Adkins is the founder of several prominent facilities and programs, including Arizona Pain Treatment Centers, Minimally Invasive Spine, Modern Ambulatory Surgery Center, McDowell Ambulatory Surgery Center, and the Escape Spine Surgery Concierge Program. His extensive experience has fueled his commitment to advancing teamwork among spine and pain specialists, ensuring that patients benefit from a collaborative approach to treatment.

Personal Experience with Spine Pain

In 2003, Dr. Adkins faced his own battle with spine pain after a serious disc herniation resulted in nerve compression and atrophy in his right lower extremity. He underwent treatments such as Active Release Technique (ART), Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (B-Mac), and PRP injections to aid his recovery. This personal journey deepened his empathy and insight into the challenges his patients endure.

Dr. Adkins is a passionate kitesurfer and snowboarder, always seeking new adventures. He enjoys exploring the world with his wife and three children. On his days off, you might find him at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, ready for the next adventure, or relaxing at a local coffee shop.
